Extrusion is the most important manufacturing process in construction plastics but this technology has been limited to low performing thermoplastics (PE, PP, PVC, PET, PS, PC...). EXTRU-PUR is a disruptive technology able to introduce, for first time, extruded products made from Thermoset Polyurethane (PUR) - the most insulating polymer material - enabling a continuous manufacturing of FRAMES & PROFILES FOR HIGHLY ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS as high added-value products.

PUR foams are materials that show the best performance in thermal & acoustic insulation and opposite to all other insulating materials, which must be applied as sheets or panels, they can be sprayed and injected providing a unique tightness while preventing heat leaking due to a continuous non-permeable barrier to liquids and gases. However, conventional PUR foams show a dangerours fire behaviour and this lack of safety is one of the main barriers for PUR to become the leading insulating material. SAFE-PUR are novel foams that overcome the main problems related with PUR during a fire.

Lignin is the second most abundant biobased compound and nowadays, huge amounts of this natural resource are produced as a waste or low value by-product. "Doing more with lignin" is a Regional Dutch Consortium Project (integrated by Attero, Bio Treat Center, Chemelot InSciTe, INDRESMAT, Vertoro and Vito) aiming to produce CLO (Crude Lignin Oil) as a high value building block for chemical and plastic industries. The role of INDRESMAT is to develop and manufacture biobased PUR foams containing CLO to improve their technical properties while lowering the C-Footprint of PUR.

 

INDRESMAT gets fully involved in the Circular Dutch ecosystem joining this collaborative project. Do you want to know more?
